What type of paper are your books printed on?

Our books are library-quality, printed on 60# (90 g/m2) white paper. Covers are printed on 10pt stock (80lb or 216 g/m2 ) in full color and laminated for durability.

This means that the pages of our books (especially our coloring books) are not printed on the cheap newsprint paper common to one dollar coloring books, which is light in weight and creamy or grayish in color. Our coloring books are printed on high quality white paper which is heavier in weight.

Why are the pictures of the coloring books printed only on one side of the page?

Children’s artwork is valuable and we want to make sure that you can treasure their art for the future. Our experience working with children and using coloring books with pictures printed on newsprint paper and on both sides of the paper made us aware of the need of better quality coloring books.

The back picture of those coloring books printed on newsprint paper become unusable by the fact that once the child uses markers on one side, the bleeding of the marker on the other side makes that picture unusable. In addition if you were to hang the picture you would be able to see only one of the pictures printed and would hide the other on the reverse side, again making that picture unusable. Therefore by printing only on one side of the page you can use all the pictures of the books and you can be sure you do not waste any of them.

How long does it take to illustrate a children’s book?

It all depends on the type of illustrations, complexity, research needed and a few other factors. It generally takes us from 3 to 6 months to fully illustrate a children’s book starting from the sketching phase.
